304 stainless steel round rod

304 stainless steel, as a widely used stainless steel material, is known for its excellent rust resistance, compared to the 200 series of stainless steel, its performance in the resistance to rust is more significant. In addition, 304 stainless steel also performs well in high temperature resistance and can withstand temperatures as high as 1000 to 1200 degrees Celsius, which makes it ideal for many high temperature applications.

304 stainless steel not only has excellent corrosion resistance, but also has a good performance in resistance to intergranular corrosion. Experimental studies have shown that in the boiling nitric acid environment with a concentration of no more than 65%, 304 stainless steel shows strong corrosion resistance. At the same time, it also has good corrosion resistance to alkali solutions and most organic and inorganic acids.

In terms of chemical composition, the standard grade of 304 stainless steel is 0Cr18Ni9 (or 0Cr19Ni9), and its chemical composition ratio is: Carbon (C) content does not exceed 0.07%, silicon (Si) content does not exceed 1.0%, manganese (Mn) content does not exceed 2.0%, chromium (Cr) content is between 17.0% and 19.0%, nickel (Ni) content is between 8.0% and 11.0%, sulfur (S) content does not exceed 0.03%, phosphorus (P) content does not exceed 0.035%. The precise ratio of these components gives 304 stainless steel its unique properties.

304 stainless steel rods on the market are mainly divided into imported and domestic two kinds, of which 304 stainless steel rods imported from Japan are favored because of their reliable quality. 304 stainless steel bar specifications are complete, the price is favorable, suppliers can usually provide material certification and SGS report to ensure the quality of products.

As an extremely versatile steel, 304 stainless steel not only has good corrosion resistance and heat resistance, but also has excellent low temperature strength and mechanical properties. Its thermal processing performance is good, including stamping, bending, etc., and there is no heat treatment hardening phenomenon, so that it can maintain non-magnetic and good performance in the temperature range of -196 ° C to 800 ° C. Therefore, 304 stainless steel is widely used in household goods (such as tableware, cabinets, indoor pipelines, water heaters, boilers, bathtubs, etc.), auto parts (such as windshield wipers, mufflers, molding products, etc.), medical equipment, building materials, chemicals, food industry, agriculture, ship parts and other fields.

Although 304 stainless steel has many advantages, rust may still occur in practical applications, which is usually caused by the following reasons: First of all, there are chloride ions in the use of the environment, such as salt, sweat, sea water, sea breeze, soil, etc., chloride ions in these environments will accelerate the corrosion of stainless steel, and even exceed the corrosion rate of ordinary mild steel. Therefore, there are certain requirements for the use of stainless steel environment, and it is necessary to wipe regularly, remove dust, and keep clean and dry. Secondly, if 304 stainless steel is not treated with solid solution, the alloying elements are not fully integrated into the matrix, resulting in low alloy content of the matrix structure and poor corrosion resistance. Finally, materials that do not contain titanium and niobium have a tendency of intergranular corrosion, and the occurrence of intergranular corrosion can be reduced by adding titanium and niobium and conducting stabilization treatment.

In summary, 304 stainless steel is a material with excellent performance, and its corrosion resistance, heat resistance and mechanical properties make it the preferred material for many industries. However, in order to ensure its performance, proper use and maintenance are indispensable.
