High strength steel plate for automobile

In order to control C02 emissions, which contribute to global warming, automobile manufacturers are actively

promoting the design of lightweight automobile bodies for the purpose of reducing fuel consumption. In the early

1990s, the proportion of high-strength steel plates used in automobile bodies increased to 30%, reducing the

weight of the car. In the late 1990s, due to crash safety concerns, the use of car body reinforcement increased,

thus increasing the weight of the car. In order to ensure the collision safety and lightweight of the body, the strength

of the high-strength steel plate used for the car body has been increased from 440MPa level to 590MPa level, and

the body structural parts use 980MPa ultra-high strength steel plate, and the proportion of use is also more than

40%. From the point of view of improving the corrosion inhibition performance of the body, the alloyed hot-

dip galvanized steel plate has the same high strength characteristics as the cold-rolled steel plate.

High-strength cold-rolled steel plates for automotive are mainly used for body parts, which are roughly divided into three categories, namely internal and external panels, structural parts and strengthening parts. Table 3-8 lists the required steel plate strength and characteristics for each component and the problems to be solved.
